Following recent debates on
Online Gambling in the US, the possibility that it may come back is not to be ignored. The US Department of Justice has recent ruling has given rise to speculations regarding this matter. One the latest states in US to consider online gambling is Ohio.
The Ohio Lottery Commission represented by Dennis Berg, its interim director, has stated that the state is looking into this matter very seriously. It is indeed becoming more probable that it will finally be allowed in Ohio but at this point nothing can be said for sure. California and New Jersey are among the two US states, which have attempted to legalize intra-state online casino and poker sites for residents. Unfortunately, both states did not go through with their initial plans.
There is a rise in the re consideration of the Wire Act due to the confusion on which online gambling feature is to be banned. The most recent ruling tried to define of it affected online lottery ticket sales or other games such as blackjack or poker. Up till now the US Government thought that the WIRE Act covered all gambling opportunities but the December 2011 ruling enlightened online casino fans that it is most applicable to bets made on sporting events. This ruling has thus given rise to speculations that the sale of lottery tickets online may soon be feasible as well as the emergence of new
online gambling sites.
The current economic situation in the US means that there still is a high raise in the number of unemployment and where many states are unable to meet their budgets. Allowing the re emergence of online gambling might be the solution required to give the economy a much needed boost up.
